Academics & Admissions

Main content start

The Environmental Social Sciences PhD program offers subplans in Global Environmental Policy (GEP) and Environmental Behavioral Science (EBS). The sub plans share much of the same structure and requirements regarding units, candidacy, qualification, annual review, defense, and timeline, but differ in terms of specific course requirements and admissions review. Both programs use “cohort” models, where the applicant applies to the program rather than to a specific research group. However, applicants should indicate whether they are applying to the EBS group or the GEP group.

Application Timeline

EBS will be accepting applications in Fall 2024 for the 2025-2026 academic year.

GEP will be accepting applications in Fall 2025 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
